Hand-Crank Power Banks: What They Can and Cannot Do
A hand-crank power bank converts manual motion into electrical input. Its purpose is narrow: provide a last-resort way to create some energy when a wall outlet, vehicle charger, and useful sunlight are unavailable.
It is not a practical substitute for wired charging, and it should not be marketed as a quick way to refill an entire power bank.
What a hand crank is useful for

Use the fastest, most dependable option available:
- Charge by wired USB before severe weather or travel.
- Conserve the stored battery for communication and essential tasks.

- Treat a small solar panel as supplemental input in useful sunlight.
- Reserve the hand crank for last-resort input.
Always follow the instructions supplied with the device. Stop using any battery product that is damaged, swollen, leaking, unusually hot, or otherwise behaving abnormally.
